Do you know someone who has had heart bypass surgery?  The recovery process can be supported by cardiac rehab which is an extremely underutilized therapy covered by Medicare for older adults.  In order for insurance to pay, cardiac rehab should be requested through a primary care physician.  Cardiac rehab is designed to reduce the risk of further heart damage while an individual returns to a life as normal as possible.  It includes heart strengthening exercise in addition to nutrition and stress counseling and social support. Please let us hear from those who participated in such a program.  Would enjoy hearing the pros and cons from someone who personally participated in the program.
