Testimonial for Pamela D. Wilson
“As an estate planning and elder law attorney, my role with clients is generally limited to preparing estate planning documents, including medical and financial powers of attorney. I feel a special responsibility to make sure my clients are well taken care of after my work is done, to make sure their families fully understand their responsibilities and are prepared for the difficult decisions they may face. I had total confidence in referring clients to Pamela to fill those important roles of agent, care manager, and advisor. Thanks to her breadth and depth of experience, Pamela was perfectly attuned to my clients’ needs. I was also often able to call on Pamela to guide me through some of the unique challenges faced by my elderly clients and their families.” L.E.
Caregiving Stress Results in Poor Decision-Making
Research confirms the emotional and physical stress of caregiving or managing health problems is significant and can go on for years. Caregiving negatively affects health and well-being, even though many agree that caregiving is a family responsibility. Stress-related worry about health diagnosis can weigh heavy on the mind and result in more health problems.
Stress affects the ability to think clearly and make good decisions. Caregiving stress and feelings of burnout result in difficulty, indecision, and delays in making decisions that can harm health and well-being. Spouses and adult children believe they can manage care decisions and make mistakes because of unclear thinking.
If you have been in a caregiving situation for some time or are new to caregiving, situations can become more complex with time. The number of decisions that have to be made increases. The importance and long-term impact of these decisions grow with time.
Stress results in making mistakes. Stress results in difficulty in making the right decisions. This program gives you an action plan to make better decisions, manage your care or the care of a loved one, and to advocate with the healthcare system.
What Will It Take For You To Act?
If you are here, care caregiving has likely felt stressful for some time. Many aging adults and caregivers delay acting because they think situations will work out or solve themselves. If you are struggling, how long will you stay in this situation before deciding to change?
What actions do you need to take to protect your health and well-being and the health and well-being of loved ones? Do you want to take the chance of something happening tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year that makes the current situation more challenging or stressful?
Participating in this program will give you the insights and an action plan to manage unexpected caregiving events, gain confidence in decision-making, and feel less stress and anxiety. You may think that you can download a copy of a power of attorney on the Internet or get a copy from an attorney. You can. However, having a piece of paper is only the beginning of understanding the complexities of dealing with the healthcare and financial systems.
This program is less about the “piece of paper” that you may already have sitting in a drawer or still need to create. This program is more about knowing what information should be in the documents–that even most attorneys don’t know–and more about an action plan to manage your care, the care of a loved one, making the right medical decisions, and learning to advocate for care against a healthcare system that may want to withhold care and treatment.
Caregiving is a Family Matter
Caregiving is a family matter but is a subject that is rarely discussed before an emergency happens. In Pamela’s program, Caregiving and Power of Attorney Secrets, she works with caregivers and aging adults to end worry, reduce doubt, and gain confidence about caregiving matters. The program also focuses on choosing the right power of attorney to help advocate for care in a healthcare system that may deny care and treatment to aging adults. Many adult children are looking for solutions to survive caregiving for aging parents.
Every Situation is Different
Because every situation is different, you can post questions in the comments section of the live webinar programs and Pamela will respond. Pamela’s 20+ years of experience helps caregivers and aging adults avoid many pitfalls, mistakes, and unknowns of caregiving and navigating the healthcare system.

11 The Risks of Delaying Talking about Power of Attorney - Read More
You Can Download A Power of Attorney Off the Internet … But What Then?
The “implementation and use” of the document is the most important aspect. Sure you can download a power of attorney from the Internet, but what then? Do you fully understand the responsibilities and the ramifications of appointing a person to help you? Many individuals do not have a good understanding of power of attorney and what it is or what it means.
A lack of understanding is why creating power of attorney documents or choosing a power of attorney is delayed. A lack of understanding about power of attorney is also why power of attorney abuse happens. Older adults are taken advantage of both medically and financially by persons they thought were honest — including family members.
When a Medical Emergency Happens It’s Best to Have a Person Acting As Your Power of Attorney
When a medical emergency happens, help is needed. Having a power of attorney you trust is invaluable in protecting your wishes, choices, and desires about the care you want. Not having this document subjects you to having the healthcare system and others make decisions for you.
Work With Pamela As Your Trusted Advisor, Confidant, and Consultant

Becoming involved with the legal system is another hesitation. Power of attorney documents can be downloaded from the Internet or provided by an attorney. Having this piece of paper is important.
