The importance of reducing stress in our lives cannot be understated. Stress causes many of the chronic conditions in our life and then makes them worse. I’m working with several individuals who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Stress makes the symptoms of Parkinson’s worse – tremors and physical movement become more difficult. Research talks about the importance of diversion, even if only for a short period of time. Any diversion like going to the movies, out to dinner, an evening with friends often takes our minds off our problems or whatever is causing us stress. One of my recent recommendations to a client was to have more diversions in her life. We always lean toward working more, rarely toward having more fun. If you have a chronic condition try more diversions. You might be surprised the difference it will make in your life and your health.
