As we age our body strength decreases and our balance can suffer in the process.  Exercises using small hand weights are an excellent way to rebuild muscle mass – and this is effective at any age even for those in their 90’s.  Consult your physician before beginning an exercise program.  He or she may also prescribe a physical therapy consultation which would allow a professional to evaluate your strength and suggest recommended exercises.  You’ll be surprised the difference this type of exercise will make in just a few weeks.  Carrying grocery bags and lifting laundry baskets will be easier.
