Care navigation is a significant benefit for families experiencing healthcare crises. I see this in my daily interactions. Many families are given educational materials, reference books; lists etc. and are under such stress they don’t know where to begin. It can be a debilitating process especially if the entire long term picture is not viewed and those less experienced do not realize the breadth of considerations to be made. It’s similar to a doctor diagnosing an illness and explaining the next steps, consequences and medications except that it involves day to day living, care, financial, legal, housing and other matters.
